BELARUS AND SWITZERLAND GO HEAD TO HEAD

The Fed Cup semifinals will hold on April22-23, 2017 in Minsk and fans will be looking to support either of the duo of Belarus or Switzerland who will be going on head to head as they battle to get into the final of the Fed Cup event.

For Belarus, they would be hoping to go all the way and secure their first ever Fed Cup final. Switzerland however is looking to get to the Fed Cup Final for the first time since after 1998. The semifinal event will see Belarus play host to their Swiss counterparts.

Belarus will be facing a strong opposition to their Fed final cup dream, one which would be coming from the Swiss team who are looking towards erasing the painful memories from last season where the eventual champions of the event, Czech Republic knocked them out during the semifinals of the event.

A big blow for the Belarus team stems from the absence of star tennis player, Victoria Azarenka who has been away from the game for quite a while and would remain so probably until November due to her pregnant status. Thus the team has had to settle for the likes of Aliaksandra Sasnovich, Aryna Sabalenka, Olga Govortsova, Vera Lapko, Eduard Dubrou (captain) to finish up the job done.

The Swiss team on the other hand will field a more familiar line-up comprising of the likes of Timea Bacsinszky, Viktorija Golubic, Belinda Bencic, Martina Hingis and Heinz Guenthardt (captain). They would be looking to create a new record by leading Switzerland to a Fed Cup final since 1998.

During their quarterfinal games, both teams came off victorious with a 4-1 score over their opponents. Whoever wins the semifinal would face either Czech Republic or the United States in the final of the game.
