Victoria Azarenka Announces Her Withdrawal from French Open, Courtesy Foot Injury

Victoria Azarenka has finally confirmed that she will not be able to be a part of the French Open this month because of her foot injury. The tennis star from Belarus, now at number five in the world hasn’t yet recovered from her foot surgery, hence had to withdraw from upcoming tournaments in Miami, Doha, Rome and Madrid in the recent weeks.

Talking about the situation the 2 time champion of the Australian Open, now twenty four commented on her twitter page saying that unfortunately she will not be able to participate in this season’s Grand Slam. She further added that she is recovering from her injury and working hard on getting back fit and fine on the court.

She also commented on Facebook that Rolland Garros is definitly one of the biggest tournaments in tennis in one of the beautiful cities in the world, but unfortunately she won’t be able to participate since she is yet to recover from her injury. He is rather hopeful that she will be able to soon return to the court and thanked her fans for the support they have bestowed upon her.

In the past couple of months, Victoria Azarenka has participated in just a single match, where she lost to Lauren Davis, American national in early March at the Indian Wells. This was because of her left foot injury. The problem erupted further in January as she was playing for the title trophy of the Australian open. Unfortunately she lost to Agnieszka Radwanska of Poland, during the quarter finals.

This announcement from Azarenka doesn’t come as a surprise, since she match against Lauren Davis, where she literally limped through the first round, post which she lost to the American. Azarenka, last year, was a semifinalist in the French Open and unfortunately lost her rank of number 4 on Monday to Simona Halep.
