AZARENKA THROUGH IN QUARTERS

The no. 1 female tennis player in the world, Victoria Azarenka, has defeated Romina Oprandi of Switzerland in the quarter final of the China Open on Friday. Azarenka won the match in the straight sets by 6-2, 6-0. She played some extraordinary shots in the match and just outclassed the Swiss player.

Now, Azarenka is just two steps away from winning the title. It was an easy victory for the Belarusian superstar. She won the match in just 55 minutes and cruised into the final 4.

Azarenka has been playing amazingly well in this tournament. She has won all her matches in the competition convincingly so far and the kind of form she is in at the moment; it seems that she will just run away with the title.

In the post match interview, Azarenka said, “I have been playing well since the last few weeks and it was again a great day for me. I am going through a good phase at the moment and hopefully, I would carry on the good form till the end of the tournament.”

When asked whether it was an easy match for her, Azarenka said, “I didn’t take any opponent lightly. You can’t afford to go into a game with a casual approach. I play with the same kind of intensity in each and every game.”

On the other hand, Oprandi was hugely disappointed after being knocked out of the competition. The Swiss player said, “Azarenka is one of the best players in the world and this match was always going to be tough for me. But, I didn’t even given her a fight and that’s why I am disappointed so much.”

In the semi final match, Azarenka will play against Marion Bartoli of France.
