STRYCOVA LOSES TEMPER AND MATCH IN CHINA

BarboraStrycova lost her temper and then eventually lost the game in the second round of the Wuhan Open in China.


She faced JelenaOstapenko, winning the first set 6-2. However, the Czech lost her temper and the game as she lost the remaining sets 5-7, 3-6 to crash out of the tournament.

The French Open champ didn’t even do as much to take her down after she failed to control her temper and focus on the game at hand. The heat rule allowed the game to be stopped between the second and third sets. AZARENKA DELAYS WTA TOUR UNTIL TORONTO

Former Stanford champ Victoria Azarenka was touted to make her return to the WTA Tour with an appearance at the tournament this year but she has cancelled.


She would now make her comeback on the grass courts after complaining of a viral illness.

“I’ve been sick with a viral illness all week, and will therefore not be able to compete next week. The tournament, which is one of the best events of the year, was marked on my calendar from the day I planned my return to the tour after giving birth to Leo. I am very sad not to be able to play in front of the amazing fans in Stanford. I hope to be back next year,” a statement credited to her read.

The Belarusian was poised to be among the leading characters at the hard court event, alongside veteran Maria Sharapova, Petra Kvitova and top seed GarbineMuguruza. Read more »

BELARUS AND SWITZERLAND GO HEAD TO HEAD

The Fed Cup semifinals will hold on April22-23, 2017 in Minsk and fans will be looking to support either of the duo of Belarus or Switzerland who will be going on head to head as they battle to get into the final of the Fed Cup event.


For Belarus, they would be hoping to go all the way and secure their first ever Fed Cup final. Switzerland however is looking to get to the Fed Cup Final for the first time since after 1998. The semifinal event will see Belarus play host to their Swiss counterparts.

Belarus will be facing a strong opposition to their Fed final cup dream, one which would be coming from the Swiss team who are looking towards erasing the painful memories from last season where the eventual champions of the event, Czech Republic knocked them out during the semifinals of the event. AZARENKA RETURNS TO TENNIS AFTER BREAK

Tennis star Victoria Azarenka has returned to the sport after a time out. The Belarus international took time out to give birth to her first child but after just six weeks, she has returned to the gym.


Azarenka, 27, has confirmed that she hopes to be ready for the summer and in time for the US Open. She recently met with world number one Serena Williams. The stars took picture that quickly circulated in the media.

“I always enjoy our meetings on and off the court! Always love for @serenawilliams,” Azarenka posted on her Instagram handle.

Azaranka – who lives and trains in California – told Tennis Channel Victoria that she hopes to make an impression at the US Open despite her time out. She ranks low but she remains in the WTA top 20 list. Read more »

KERBER’S VICTORY OVER SERENA IN THE AUSTRALIAN OPEN

The finals of the first Grand Slam of 2016 had seen two beautiful tennis stars go head on into the match at the Australian Open, with Angelique Kerber on one side, and Serena Williams on the other.


Serena Williams had roared into the game, which was the first Grand Slam of 2016, in a bid to shake off the disappointment after falling two matches short of the Calendar Year Grand Slam.

Williams had saved her most dominant performance without dropping a set, for the semifinal. There, she had lost just four games to the reigning BNP Paribas WTA Finals Singapore presented by Agnieszka Radwanska, SC Global Champion.

The opening stage of Aegon Open Nottingham will see events held at international levels in Nottingham, the Netherlands, Hertogenbosch and Great Britain.’

There will be 3 players who are the world’s top 40 coming into action. Victoria Azarenka has withdrawn to play due to health issues. Although the former leading player will be out, there will be top seed Karolina Pliskova, Johanna Konta and Caroline Wozniacki who would be taking part in the field.
