Azarenka Break up

Victoria Azarenka is no longer in relationship with Stefan Gordy, the singer from USA. The couple has broken up recently after reaching the conclusion that they don’t have enough time for each other.

Both Azarenka and Gordy are the renowned names in their own fields and thus, it’s obvious that they have hectic schedules. Despite that, they tried hard to save their relationship, but, eventually, both of them felt that it was virtually impossible to carry it on.

Talking to the reporters the other day, Gordy said, “Neither of us wanted to split, but, the fact is that we both are at a very important stage of our careers. We have to devote a lot of time to our respective professions and in such situation, the best possible thing is the breakup.”

Gordy would be doing shows in various parts of Europe over the next month, while, Azarenka would be busy playing hard court tournaments in her bid to get ready for the US Open.

Azarenka has fallen down in the world rankings a little bit in the recent times and the injuries have a lot to do with that. Yes, her form has also not been the greatest, but, she would not have slipped down so much (to no. 10) if she had stayed fit.

It’s not so long back when the Belarusian was the no. 1 player in the world. She had been absolutely fantastic in the 2012 and 2013 Season winning Australian Open successively and also reaching the semi final and final rounds of the other slams.

But, during the ongoing season, Azarenka has been a little unlucky with her fitness. However, the last quarter of the season is still remaining and she has every chance to improve her ranking before the season ends.

Djokovic Will Feature In Boodles

Novak Djokovic, the no. 2 player in the world, will get prepared for the Wimbledon Championships by featuring in an exhibition tournament named as Boodles Tennis Challenge. It will be organized at Stoke Park and all the players participating in it will get the opportunity to play at least 3 games.

Some other renowned players who are taking part in that tournament are John Isner, Jack Sock (Both USA), Kevin Anderson (South Africa), Ernests Gulbis (Latvia), Milos Raonic (Canada) and Fabio Fognini (Italy).

Almost all the players who are at the top positions in the World rankings have taken part in the ATP tournaments in their bids to get ready for the third Grand Slam of the year, but, Djokovic who was horribly frustrated after suffering yet another defeat against Rafael Nadal in the French Open decided not to do so.

He got himself freshened by spending some quality time with his buddies and now, he is all set to go again.

Although Boodles Challenge is only an exhibition tournament, the name of the players mentioned above clearly suggests that the competition is going to be tough there and Djokovic would be happy about that. He would want to play hard and tight so that his preparation is well come the Wimbledon.

In the Wimbledon Championships, Djokovic would again have the opportunity to replace Rafael Nadal at the first position in the world rankings.

The Serb had the similar opportunity at Roland Garros as well, but, he wasted that by losing to the Spaniard in the final there. Had he clinched that final, he would have been the world no. 1 by now.

The Wimbledon Championships this year will start from the 23rd of June and will go on till the 6th of July.

Victoria Azarenka Announces Her Withdrawal from French Open, Courtesy Foot Injury

Victoria Azarenka has finally confirmed that she will not be able to be a part of the French Open this month because of her foot injury. The tennis star from Belarus, now at number five in the world hasn’t yet recovered from her foot surgery, hence had to withdraw from upcoming tournaments in Miami, Doha, Rome and Madrid in the recent weeks.

Talking about the situation the 2 time champion of the Australian Open, now twenty four commented on her twitter page saying that unfortunately she will not be able to participate in this season’s Grand Slam. She further added that she is recovering from her injury and working hard on getting back fit and fine on the court.

She also commented on Facebook that Rolland Garros is definitly one of the biggest tournaments in tennis in one of the beautiful cities in the world, but unfortunately she won’t be able to participate since she is yet to recover from her injury. He is rather hopeful that she will be able to soon return to the court and thanked her fans for the support they have bestowed upon her.

In the past couple of months, Victoria Azarenka has participated in just a single match, where she lost to Lauren Davis, American national in early March at the Indian Wells. This was because of her left foot injury. The problem erupted further in January as she was playing for the title trophy of the Australian open. Unfortunately she lost to Agnieszka Radwanska of Poland, during the quarter finals.

This announcement from Azarenka doesn’t come as a surprise, since she match against Lauren Davis, where she literally limped through the first round, post which she lost to the American. Azarenka, last year, was a semifinalist in the French Open and unfortunately lost her rank of number 4 on Monday to Simona Halep.

Hewitt Falls Out First Round

Lleyton Hewitt has been knocked out of the very first round of the ongoing French Open. He lost to the Argentinean player Carlos Berlocq in a pretty much one sided match to suffer a humiliating exit from Roland Garros yet again.

This is the third successive year when Hewitt has been defeated in the very first round of the French Open.

The Australian player who had made a brilliant entry to the professional circuit more than a decade back has made it to the final of each and every major competition at some point of time in his career except the French Open where he has never managed to go past the round of 8.

Hewitt, although, has never been considered as a good clay court player, but, he, at least, used to show some fighting spirit a few years ago, but, in the last couple of years, he has been absolutely pathetic on slow surfaces. In 2014, he has played 6 matches on the clay courts so far out of which he has lost 5.

As far as the match against Berlocq is concerned, Hewitt actually started pretty well. He clinched the first set without facing too many difficulties, but, as he so often does, he lost his shape after a great start. There was hardly any competition between the two players in the next 3 sets.

Berlocq kept bagging points one after the other and the match was done and dusted pretty soon.

This possibly was the last time that Hewitt was making an appearance at the Roland Garros. The chances of him returning next year are very low.

However, now Hewitt is entering his territory. The grass court tournaments are coming up and if it’s the last season of his career, the Australian star would like to make it memorable by lifting a couple of trophies.
